October 1976
Some called it the "Born to Run" tour, others referred to it as the "Law Suit" or "Chicken Scratch" tour, either way it was a rare opportunity to see Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in a small hall before his next record “Darkness” was released, and most shows would be in large arenas or stadiums. The following photographs were personally selected from my vast archive, which was shot on film, and most of these images were last seen through the viewfinder of my 35mm camera.
It was a rare concert by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in an intimate theatre of only 976 seats. Chosen on this, the 40th Anniversary, these photographs hopefully reflect that incredible night.
2016 was also a banner year for Bruce with the River Tour, be sure not to miss "The River Collection" from James Shive.

It was an amazing opportunity to be given full access in front of the stage from the first note until the last encore. Making these selections of new photographs to release is not an easy process. With 100's of different images. Each photograph has something different to say and reflects a different part of Bruce's live performance. While trying to capture the essence of a live E Street Band show and knowing there was a great opportunity, I was well prepared. Six different lenses, 2 camera bodies (one for color & one for b&w) and a small mountain of film. The best part, sitting right in front of the stage for the entire show.
The only professional photographer granted full access to photograph the entire show.
Now I am proud to share many new never before seen images from this October show.
Enjoy the show!
